I previously completed a two-year course at a Japanese language school. Now, as an exchange student, I'm studying English communication at a vocational school. I found my part-time job here through a MOS BURGER–hosted job fair for international exchange students from Vietnam.

A large number of Vietnamese exchange students already employed at MOS BURGER were there, and they encouraged me with big smiles to keep studying my hardest while working part-time at MOS BURGER. I also looked at part-time student job openings at other burger shops, but MOS BURGER was the one that really appealed to me.

I've always liked hamburgers, and I'm so happy now that I have a job making tasty burgers at this restaurant. In addition to the Japanese students who work at my location, there are a large number of exchange student part-timers from many places including Vietnam, South Korea, China and others.

The employee manual incorporates a number of clever methods to help exchange students who aren't completely proficient in reading and writing Japanese yet. When I was trained to be a "setter," the person who makes the hamburgers we all love so much, I was given photographs to follow as I learned. This made everything really easy to understand. The onion–patty–sauce burger building order and other rules and methods are easy enough for anyone to grasp at a glance.

In my case, training started with washing dishes and equipment. Then I moved on to fryer operation, cash register operation and setter work, after which I was able to make all the burgers on the shop's menu. However, I sometimes fall behind the prescribed food preparation times, so I'm practicing in order to get faster.
During the New Year's holiday, just three of us were able to complete a huge order of 30 burgers, which was a great opportunity to practice quick food preparation!

I've failed a whole bunch of times. But that's okay!

I'm convinced that I'll become able to make burgers more quickly and skillfully, because my kind coworkers are always there to lend me support.
Lots of practice is necessary to make hot and delicious hamburgers that also look appetizing. Even though I've messed up a lot, making both small and big mistakes, my supervisors and coworkers give me a lot of helpful support. I've made mistakes like adding too much meat sauce so the burger becomes a gooey mess, and mixing coffee and milk in the wrong order when making café au lait... I've failed a whole bunch of times! But that's okay! I've been getting better and better recently [laughs].

I want to keep practicing in order to get better at making MOS BURGER hamburgers, because my dream is to open a small burger shop back in my home country of Vietnam. I've heard that MOS BURGER plans to open a shop in Ho Chi Minh City, but my hometown is Hanoi.
I'm not married yet, so I can basically work wherever I want [laughs]. What I'd really like to do is open a burger shop that's just as good as MOS BURGER in Hanoi, where I was born and raised. If I set up a shop near a school, I can probably attract a lot of student customers.

Sometimes I get a bit tired at work, but the other MOS BURGER staff members are always cheerful and smiling. I encourage other exchange students seeking a part-time job to apply to MOS BURGER! Foreign exchange students can work here without worries and have fun while doing it!
